The Abia State Government has sealed a campaign office in Umuahia linked to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign group, Renewed Hope Partners (RHP).
The affected office serves as the regional campaign structure for President Tinubu in the South East, reportedly led by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu.
Workers were shocked to find the office, located on Ojike Street, sealed without prior notice. Notices pasted at the entrance by the Ministry of Lands and Housing cited a violation of Abia State tax laws.
The official statement on the notice read:
“This property is in contravention of Sections 41 and 100 of the Abia State Tax Law (Codification and Consolidation), Law No. 7 of 2020. And it’s hereby sealed. Any person, including the owner/occupier, neighbour(s) or passer(s) by, who attempts to unseal this building is in contravention of the Abia State Tax Law No. 7 of 2020. Be warned. Keep off.”
