’24 Hours Is Enough’: Soldier Insists Nigerian Military Can End Banditry If Given Clear Order

Date:

A Nigerian soldier has voiced deep frustration over the “avoidable suffering” caused by insecurity nationwide, insisting that the Nigerian military possesses the capacity to end the crisis quickly if granted the necessary command.

Lamenting the continuous cycle of attacks, kidnappings, and community displacement, the soldier stated that frontline personnel are overwhelmed. However, he maintained that the armed forces have the training and specialized units to defeat the criminal networks.

Speaking confidently in Hausa, he asserted the rapid capability of the troops:

“We can end terrorism in 24 hours if only we’re given the order,” and further stressed: “Give us the chance , 24 hours is enough.”

The soldier criticized the ongoing suffering of Nigerians—waking up to reports of abductions and fear—despite the existence of elite units capable of tackling the crisis.

He concluded by defining his commitment to service:

“I didn’t wear this uniform for decoration or to brag, and not so people would fear me. I wear it to protect my country from evil.”
