The Chief Executive Officer of Lovebite Foods and Beverages Limited, Mr. Innocent Okwudili Nwosu, has enrolled over 400 staff members into the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme (ASHIA). The enrollment exercise took place at the company’s headquarters in Nnobi, Idemmili South LGA, Anambra State.

Mr. Nwosu stated that over the years, he had been covering medical expenses for his staff out of pocket, which led to significant financial strain. He explained that whenever any of his employees fell ill, he would personally fund their treatment, often at high costs. To ease this burden and ensure his staff had continuous access to quality healthcare, he decided to enroll them in ASHIA.

Before the enrollment, Mr. Nwosu provided his workers with a fixed monthly allowance to cover medical bills, but he realized it was often insufficient, leaving some employees unable to afford proper treatment. With ASHIA, they now have the freedom to visit any accredited hospital of their choice and receive prompt medical attention at a minimal cost. He expressed satisfaction with the initiative, stating that a healthy workforce is essential for increased productivity and overall business growth.

Speaking on behalf of the Managing Director and CEO of ASHIA, Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi, Mrs. Anoliefo Nneoma commended Mr. Nwosu for his generosity and commitment to his employees’ well-being. She urged the beneficiaries to seize this golden opportunity, prioritize their health, and take preventive measures to avoid serious illnesses. According to her, “Health is wealth, and as much as you work hard, it is important to also take care of your health because without good health, productivity is affected.”

A newly registered staff member, Mrs. Chineye Chukwunonso, expressed gratitude to her employer. She shared that she had always wanted to enroll in ASHIA but faced challenges with costs and timing. Now, she feels assured knowing she can access healthcare services even if she no longer works at Lovebite Foods.
