Anambra State Bans Mobile Phone Use in Secondary Schools

The Anambra State Government has prohibited the use of mobile phones by secondary school students to enhance academic performance and maintain discipline.

The announcement was made by the Chairman of the Post Primary Schools Service Commission, Prof. Nkechi Ikediugwu, during the Anambra Schools’ Cultural Day celebration in Awka. She directed principals and teachers to confiscate any mobile phones brought to school by students, citing the growing distraction posed by phone usage during school hours.

Ikediugwu emphasized that Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration is investing significantly in education to promote academic excellence and instill discipline among students. She also highlighted the importance of preserving Igbo cultural values, noting that Igbo traditions reflect honesty, hard work, respect for elders, and truthfulness.

She urged continuous education on Igbo values to preserve the rich heritage of the Igbo people.
