House of Representatives Leadership Pledges Support to Tinubu, Donates N705m for Humanitarian Efforts

Date:

The leadership of the House of Representatives on Monday joined President Bola Tinubu for Iftar at Aso Rock, where they reaffirmed their support for his administration and announced a donation of N705 million—half of their salaries—to government-led humanitarian initiatives.

Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the invitation and his continued engagement with the legislature. He emphasized the importance of Ramadan as a time for reflection and urged Nigerians to use the period to pray for the country’s economy, security, and leadership.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, speaking on behalf of the President, called on National Assembly leaders to prioritize unity and national development over political divisions. He described Tinubu as a leader committed to inclusivity and national progress, assuring Nigerians that the government’s economic policies were beginning to yield results.

Shettima also commended the Speaker and House leadership for maintaining harmony within the legislature, stressing that leadership should be guided by service, fairness, and justice.
