Tinubu Launches Nigerian Youth Academy to Boost Skills and Employment

Date:

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to equipping Nigerian youths with essential skills for global competitiveness. Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at the launch of the Nigerian Youth Academy (NiYA) in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized the need for digital literacy, technical expertise, entrepreneurship, and creative industry training.

NiYA will focus on three key areas: education and skills development, economic empowerment, and leadership training. The initiative aims to bridge Nigeria’s low human capital index ranking and youth unemployment challenges. Tinubu assured that within two years, the academy would train and empower millions of young Nigerians.

Minister for Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, described NiYA as a platform to equip young Nigerians with marketable skills, while Finance Minister Wale Edun highlighted its role in preparing youths for the digital economy. At the event, six NiYA members received N1 million each as startup support.
