Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has officially welcomed former members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), calling on them to actively mobilize support at the grassroots level ahead of the upcoming elections.
The event, which took place at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women’s Development Centre in Awka, drew a large crowd of enthusiastic party supporters. Governor Soludo, who is also the national leader of APGA, described the political movement as a divine mission and emphasized the importance of broad participation across all wards in the state.
Soludo disclosed that over 130,000 support groups have already been mobilized, expressing confidence that APGA is positioned for a sweeping victory. He stated that the party’s goal is to secure wins in all 5,720 polling units across Anambra.
The governor urged parents and guardians to be part of what he called a redemptive movement for the state, rejecting the culture of expecting rewards without effort. He stressed that the campaign will officially kick off in June and encouraged new and existing members to remain committed to the cause.
APGA State Chairman, Barrister Ifeatu Obiokoye, confirmed that the newly formed coalition has a strong presence in every ward, following a recent verification exercise. He noted that this structure would play a crucial role in achieving the party’s political goals.
Also speaking at the event, former PDP Chairman Hon. Chukwudi Umeaba, who led the defectors, said they joined APGA because they believe Anambra is on a better path under Soludo’s leadership. He described the move as joining a “moving train” and pledged their full support to the governor’s administration.
