Man Criticizes Sending Elderly Parents to Old People’s Homes

Date:

A Nigerian man, Irogbum Godspower, has condemned the growing practice of placing elderly parents in old people’s homes.

In a Facebook post, he noted that parents dedicate most of their lives to raising their children, only for some of those children to later abandon them in retirement facilities.

“Is this the reward of parenthood?” he asked.

Godspower further questioned how Nigerian society has shifted from traditional values of family care to embracing old people’s homes.

“At what point did Nigerians lose their values that they now fancy taking their parents to old people’s homes?” he wrote.

His remarks have stirred widespread debate online. While many social media users agreed with his stance, others urged him not to judge, arguing that circumstances differ from one family to another.
