Anambra Police Arrest Five Suspects in Kidnapping, Armed Robbery Operations

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with kidnapping, armed robbery, and unlawful possession of firearms following recent security operations across the state.

In a raid on 22nd February 2025, police operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad stormed a criminal hideout at Igbariam, leading to the arrest of three suspects — Miracle Chukwunoso, Chinweze Charles, and Bonaventure Chigozie — all aged between 20 and 26 years. A locally made Beretta pistol was recovered during the operation.

The suspects were identified by victims who were dispossessed of their belongings. Police investigations revealed that the suspects withdrew N254,000 from the victim’s account on 21st February 2025 along Otoko, Igbariam.

Similarly, operatives from the 3-3 Divisional Headquarters responded to a kidnap incident at Ejison Fuel Station along Enugu-Onitsha Expressway on 16th February 2025, rescuing the victim. Two suspects were arrested, while an ash-coloured Toyota Corolla belonging to the victim was recovered at a mechanic workshop in the 3-3 area.

The victim disclosed that his captors withdrew over N1 million from his account and seized two mobile phones valued at N820,000 during his ordeal.

The suspects are to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
