Anambra Women Affairs Ministry Unveils 2025 International Women’s Day Theme

The Anambra State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare has announced that the 2025 International Women’s Day celebration will focus on promoting peace in families.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs. Ify Obinabo, disclosed this during an advocacy visit to the wife of the Governor, Mrs. Nonye Soludo, at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.

Mrs. Obinabo explained that the celebration would not only highlight women’s issues but also involve men, traditional rulers, and town union leaders to foster peaceful family coexistence as a foundation for positive societal change.

She commended Mrs. Soludo for her dedication to women’s empowerment and child welfare.

The Anambra State Coordinator of Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC II) Programme, Mrs. Josephine Onah, reaffirmed the programme’s partnership with the state government in promoting women’s and children’s rights through the passage and implementation of the Child’s Right Law and Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law.

In her response, Mrs. Soludo acknowledged the government’s commitment to supporting women, children, and the vulnerable through free antenatal and delivery services, as well as the upgrade of healthcare facilities across the state.

The visit concluded with the presentation of the VAPP and Child’s Right Laws to the Governor’s wife by RoLAC II Programme.
