Clark Family Warns Against Unauthorized Solicitation for Late Patriarch’s Burial

Date:

The family of the late elder statesman, Pa Edwin Clark, has raised concerns over individuals allegedly soliciting funds for his burial without their authorization.

In a statement jointly signed by Mr. Panaowei Clark, Chief Ebikeme Clark, and Miss Emomotimi Clark, the family distanced themselves from such individuals and clarified that no one had been mandated to act on their behalf.

They emphasized that any arrangements concerning the burial must involve direct engagement with the family. While acknowledging ongoing consultations with stakeholders to finalize burial plans, they urged the public to disregard unauthorized solicitations.

“Since the passing of our beloved father, Pa E. K. Clark, on February 17, 2025, we have received immense support from sympathizers and well-wishers visiting his country home in Kiagbodo, Delta State, as well as his residences in Lagos and Abuja,” the statement read.

The family expressed gratitude to the federal and state governments, socio-cultural organizations such as the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Pan Niger-Delta Forum (PANDEF), Afenifere, Arewa, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, and the Middle Belt Forum, as well as numerous individuals who have shown solidarity.

Acknowledging Pa Clark’s national stature, the family noted that his burial arrangements require extensive coordination among relevant stakeholders.

“To this effect, we wish to inform the public that no individual or group has been authorized to approach governments, organizations, or individuals for support or burial arrangements without our direct involvement,” the statement added.

They urged the public to be wary of unauthorized fundraising efforts and assured that official burial plans would be communicated in due course.
