Doctor Who Collapsed After 72-Hour Shift Is Buried in Port Harcourt

The remains of Dr. Oluwafemi Rotifa, a 28-year-old resident doctor at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) who reportedly died after working a 72-hour stretch without rest, have been laid to rest. He was buried on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Port Harcourt cemetery. Rotifa, a former president of the Port Harcourt University Medical Students’ Association (PUMSA), has been mourned widely, with his passing sparking grief and outrage in Nigeria’s health sector.
