Mavin Records boss Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, recently responded to a fan who made what he described as an “everlasting request” after he offered to grant a Christmas wish on social media.
The exchange went viral on X when a follower tagged Don Jazzy with a humble Christmas wish. User @itohan_olat wrote that she hoped Don Jazzy would ask her what she wanted for Christmas, assuring him she wouldn’t ask for much.
Her message caught the music executive’s attention, and he replied warmly, acknowledging her consistent interaction with his posts. He wrote:
“lol Oya na what do you want? Just cos I like your bio and I see you engage with my tweets every time. Thanks I appreciate.”
Given the opportunity, the fan made two requests. She first expressed her desire to settle some debts before the year ended. Then, she shared her bigger goal: launching a foundation to cover weekly dialysis fees for patients with kidney failure, inspired by the loss of her brother to the disease.
She wrote:
“I owe some money that I want to pay off before the year runs out. But most importantly, I also want to kick start my ‘Mercy Foundation’… My brother died of kidney disease hence.”
Don Jazzy responded with humor, noting that her request was more than he anticipated. He said:
“Ahhh Sister this your request is giving everlasting expenses on another person’s pocket o. You suppose pity this boy.”
The exchange amused many on X, sparking debates about whether the request was too much for a Christmas gesture. It also inspired other followers to make their own playful requests.
One fan asked Don Jazzy to fund her trip to watch Afcon in Morocco. He humorously declined, saying: “Me sef go watch am for tv. Ko baje.” Another fan asked what lesson the year had taught him, to which Don Jazzy replied candidly:
“That unfortunately I can’t epp everybody.”
