Flying Eagles Resume Camping March 10 for U-20 AFCON Preparations

Date:

The Flying Eagles will resume camping in Abuja on Monday, March 10, ahead of their preparations for the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The seven-time African champions recently concluded a two-match tour of Ivory Coast, where they won one match and lost one against the Young Elephants. Captain Daniel Bameyi and Divine Oliseh scored in the 2-0 victory in the first game, while the hosts won the second match 2-0.

Coach Aliyu Zubairu’s team went on a nine-day break after returning from Abidjan on Saturday. The friendlies against Ivory Coast were arranged after planned matches against Egypt were cancelled, following both teams’ placement in Group B of the tournament alongside Morocco and South Africa.

The 2025 U-20 AFCON will hold in Ivory Coast from April 26 to May 18, with the top two teams from each group and the best two third-placed finishers advancing to the quarter-finals.

All four semi-finalists will represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile from September 27 to October 19.
