The Glo Foundation has partnered with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative to launch a community outreach program aimed at alleviating hunger among vulnerable Nigerians. The initiative, held at the Love Lagos Jetty in Bariga, Lagos, provided food relief to over 1,500 women, including widows and underprivileged families.

Speaking at the event, Ufuoma Dogun, Manager of Glo Foundation’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), emphasized the foundation’s commitment to addressing hunger, a major global challenge aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. He described the partnership with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative as a strategic move to ensure the outreach has a lasting impact.

Michael Sunbola, Executive Director of the Lagos Food Bank Initiative, highlighted the importance of structured food distribution, noting that beneficiaries were pre-registered to prevent overcrowding. He stated that the food packs, designed to sustain a family of five for up to three weeks, provided much-needed relief amid rising living costs.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the initiative. Mrs. Victoria Okwuno, a widow, described the support as a blessing, while Amarachi Peter, a cook, said the food pack would help her family cope with economic challenges. Hairdresser Eunice Kehinde also appreciated the initiative, noting that it offered much-needed assistance in difficult times.

The event underscored the power of collaboration in tackling hunger and supporting vulnerable communities. Through this partnership, Glo Foundation and the Lagos Food Bank Initiative reaffirmed their commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of Nigerians.
