IBB’s Coup Clarification Paves Way for Igbo Presidency in 2027 – Udeogaranya

Date:

A former presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Charles Udeogaranya, has said that former military Head of State, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida’s recent clarification on the January 1966 coup will help clear the path for a South-East presidency in 2027.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Saturday, Udeogaranya described Babangida’s remarks as a step towards correcting historical distortions that have sidelined the Igbo people in Nigeria’s leadership.

The ex-presidential aspirant noted that the claim of the 1966 coup being an Igbo affair had long been used to justify the exclusion of the South-East from the country’s top leadership position.

He urged major political parties, including the APC, PDP, and Labour Party, to field Igbo candidates in the 2027 presidential election to promote fairness and national healing.

“This revelation nullifies decades of false narratives against the Igbo people and opens the door for the emergence of a Nigerian president of Igbo descent,” Udeogaranya said.

His remarks followed the recent demand by Ohanaeze Ndigbo for an apology from the Federal Government over the perceived marginalisation of the South-East.
