Kwara State Government Receives 1,982 Cartons of Therapeutic Food from UNICEF to Tackle Child Malnutrition

Date:

The Kwara State Government has received 1,982 cartons of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) from UNICEF to address child malnutrition across the state.

Amina El-Imam, the State Commissioner for Health, received the supplies on behalf of the government, reaffirming the administration’s dedication to improving child nutrition and reducing malnutrition-related fatalities.

In a statement issued by Saad Hamdalat, the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Health, El-Imam explained that the supply was procured through Ariel Foods Nigeria with support from the UNICEF Child Nutrition Fund. She credited the state’s $100,000 contribution to the fund, which facilitated the procurement and delivery of the critical supplies.

“This investment has directly facilitated the procurement and delivery of this vital consignment to ensure effective management of acute malnutrition among children in the state,” El-Imam said, praising the intervention by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

The Commissioner highlighted that this initiative aligns with the administration’s commitment to improving healthcare for vulnerable populations, particularly children. She also thanked UNICEF for its ongoing support and Ariel Foods Nigeria for the swift delivery of the supplies, assuring that the ministry would work closely with stakeholders to ensure that the RUTF reaches children in need across the state.
