NYSC Members Criticize DG Over Unfulfilled Allowance Increment Promise

Date:

Members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have criticized the Director-General, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, for failing to implement the promised increase in their monthly allowance.

The DG had announced during the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II orientation camp in Katsina State that corps members would receive N77,000 from February 2025, following the inclusion of the increment in the 2025 federal budget.

However, despite the passing of February, corps members received the usual N33,000 allowance, sparking disappointment among them.

A serving corps member in Lagos State expressed frustration, stating that other government agencies had already implemented the new minimum wage, while corps members were left behind.

Further investigations confirmed that no corps member across the country had received the promised N77,000, leaving many questioning the sincerity of the scheme’s leadership.
