A video of the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, speaking during the inauguration of his Ojaja University in Osun State has sparked reactions online. The university was launched to mark the monarch’s 10th coronation anniversary in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
In the clip, the Ooni addressed his wives who attended the ceremony. He reflected on how people used to mock him before he got married, explaining that he eventually married “by fire by force,” which led to complaints that his wife often followed him around. He also mentioned that one of his wives left him, and now he has a total of seven wives.
During the ceremony, three of his wives present laughed and cheered at his remarks.
However, fans of his former queen, who recently celebrated her birthday, were not pleased with the comments. Many suggested that the Ooni still has feelings for his ex-queen and argued that none of his current wives compare to her, which is why he continues to speak about her.
Some also recalled the ex-queen’s involvement in a controversial stampede case last year, noting that she still holds a special place in the king’s heart. They added that the monarch’s remarks were far from amusing.
