British boxing star Tyson Fury has cautioned Anthony Joshua against seeking a rematch with Daniel Dubois, expressing doubts about his chances of victory.
Joshua and Fury have been long-time rivals in the heavyweight division, though they have never faced each other in the ring. Last year, Joshua was in line to fight Fury if he had defeated Dubois and Fury had won his rematch against Oleksandr Usyk. However, both fighters suffered losses—Joshua was stopped in the fifth round by Dubois, while Fury lost on points to Usyk, leading to his unexpected retirement.
With a potential fight between Fury and Joshua now uncertain, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has set his sights on securing a rematch with IBF champion Dubois. However, Dubois is more likely to pursue an undisputed bout with Usyk, though Hearn insists a summer rematch remains a possibility.
Speaking on *The Stomping Ground*, Fury dismissed Joshua’s chances in a rematch against Dubois.
“No, he can’t win the rematch. I don’t think he can. I don’t even think he will take a rematch,” Fury said.
While hopes remain for a future clash between Fury and Joshua, the former champion’s retirement has put the possibility on hold. If Dubois moves forward with a Usyk fight, Joshua may have to consider other top contenders such as Joseph Parker and Agit Kabayel, both of whom hold interim titles and are in line for major bouts later in the year.
