CBN’s New ATM Withdrawal Charges Take Effect Nationwide

Date:

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s new Automated Teller Machine (ATM) withdrawal charges came into effect on Saturday, March 1, 2025, following an earlier announcement by the apex bank.

The CBN had disclosed on February 11, 2025, that customers using other banks’ ATMs would be charged N100 for withdrawals within the bank’s premises and N450 for withdrawals at offsite locations.

However, withdrawals from ATMs belonging to customers’ own banks remain free of charge.

Reports indicate that banks in the Federal Capital Territory have begun implementing the charges in line with the CBN directive.

President of the Bank Customers’ Association of Nigeria, Dr. Uju Ogunbunka, confirmed the development, describing the charges as an additional burden on Nigerians.
