Bob Manuel Claims He Has Been in Nollywood Longer Than Pete Edochie

Date:

Veteran Nollywood actor, Bob Manuel Udokwu, has stirred conversations after asserting that Pete Edochie is not the oldest man in the Nigerian film industry, contrary to public perception.

In a statement, Bob Manuel clarified that while Pete Edochie is older than him by age, he himself has been active in Nollywood long before the revered actor became widely recognized in the industry.

“Peter Edochie is not the oldest man in Nollywood, as he is parading himself and deceiving others. I have been in Nollywood longer than him, though he is older than me in age,” Bob Manuel said.

The actor’s remarks have drawn attention, given Edochie’s legendary status in Nigerian cinema, often regarded as one of the founding figures of Nollywood. Many fans online have since debated the timeline of both actors’ careers, with some defending Edochie’s contributions and others acknowledging Bob Manuel’s claims of longevity in the industry.

Bob Manuel, known for his roles in classic Nollywood productions of the 1990s and early 2000s, has consistently maintained that the history of Nollywood cannot be fully told without his name.
