Senate Blocks Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Return Despite End of Suspension

Date:

The National Assembly has barred Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan from resuming legislative duties, insisting her six-month suspension remains valid pending a Court of Appeal ruling.

In a letter dated September 4, 2025, Acting Clerk Dr. Yahaya Danzaria stated the matter is still sub judice and no action can be taken until judgment is delivered.

Natasha, suspended in March for alleged insubordination after refusing a seat change, has maintained her suspension stems from a petition accusing Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexual harassment.

Her lawyer revealed she plans to return later this month when the Senate reconvenes, but previous attempts in July were also blocked by security despite public support.
