Mother of Four Calls Out Estranged Husband, Shares Pain of Raising Kids Alone in Canada

Date:

A Nigerian mother of four living in Canada, known on Facebook as Ada Igbo, has shared a raw and emotional update on the collapse of her marriage.

As she nears the one-year anniversary of her separation on January 4, 2026, she is addressing critics who questioned her decision to raise her children single-handedly.

Ada revealed that despite her efforts to involve her husband in their children’s lives, she has been met with total silence. She shared that she reached out formally for help, but was ignored by both her husband and his relatives.

“Yes, their father should be providing. I agree. That’s why I wrote him a letter asking for financial support. He read it. He ignored it. He said nothing. His family said nothing. Till today, silence,” she wrote.

In her lengthy post, Ada pushed back against suggestions that she should have left the children with their father or sent them back to Nigeria. She emphasized that as a mother, her priority is their safety and well-being, even if it means carrying the full financial and emotional burden.

Addressing those who judge her situation, she asked:

“Since I ‘shouldn’t carry the burden alone,’ what exactly should I do? Drop my children on the main road and go and live my life? Hand them over to someone who has chosen to be absent?”

Ada concluded her post by highlighting the reality of forced single parenthood, noting that responsibility cannot be forced on a man who refuses to be present. With the holidays approaching, her message served as both a defense of her choices and a plea for support.

“How do you make a man who has chosen to be a deadbeat suddenly become involved in his children’s lives? Because from where I’m standing, I didn’t choose to do this alone… It’s 4 days to Christmas and I decided to scream out hopefully I get help.”
