NSCDC and NDE Renew Collaboration to Curb Crime Through Youth Empowerment in Anambra

Date:

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has reaffirmed its partnership with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) as part of renewed efforts to tackle crime and youth involvement in criminal activities through job creation and skills development.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by the Anambra State Coordinator of NDE, Mrs. Chika Ufelle, on April 10, 2025, the State Commandant of NSCDC, Maku Olatunde, emphasized the Corps’ readiness to support the NDE’s initiatives. He commended the Directorate’s commitment to reducing unemployment and poverty, in line with the federal government’s agenda.

Commandant Maku pledged to provide security cover for the NDE’s programs across the state, noting that both agencies play critical roles in national development—NSCDC in securing infrastructure and NDE in empowering the youth through job-related interventions.

Mrs. Ufelle, in her remarks, highlighted the importance of the NDE in equipping young Nigerians with emerging skills through self-employment and labor-intensive schemes. She said the Directorate remains committed to producing a competitive workforce that contributes meaningfully to the economy.

She added that under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, the NDE’s relevance has increased due to the administration’s emphasis on employment generation and poverty reduction.

The visit marks a renewed collaboration between both agencies to address the root causes of crime in Anambra State.
