Security Operatives Rescue Kidnap Victim, Kill Suspect in Ihiala Shootout

Date:

A joint security team comprising the Police, Military, and Ihiala Vigilante has rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered his shuttle bus after an exchange of gunfire with armed assailants in Ihiala, Anambra State.

The operation took place on the evening of March 24, 2025, when security operatives intercepted a suspicious black shuttle bus with registration number RSH 255MS. As they attempted to stop the vehicle, the armed occupants opened fire, prompting a gun battle. One suspect was neutralized, while four others escaped with bullet wounds into a nearby bush.

A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a blindfolded victim tied at the hands and legs, with his mouth sealed. He was immediately rescued, given first aid, and debriefed by the police. The shuttle bus was also recovered, and security forces have launched further operations to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

In response to the incident, the Anambra State Police Command has urged hospitals to report any individuals with bullet wounds or suspicious injuries to the nearest police station to aid in tracking the criminals.

The Command reaffirmed its commitment to security through sustained patrols and targeted operations across the state.
