NBA Calls for Reforms to Address Justice System Challenges

Date:

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has stressed the need to address challenges in the legal sector to enhance the justice system and adapt to evolving trends.

NBA President, Afam Osigwe (SAN), made this known on Wednesday in Abuja during a press conference ahead of the NBA Section on Legal Practice (NBA-SLP) annual conference scheduled for Jos, Plateau State.

Osigwe highlighted issues such as delays in justice delivery, inconsistencies in court operations, and difficulties faced by litigants, emphasizing the need for urgent reforms.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the NBA-SLP Conference Planning Committee, Paul Harris Ogbole (SAN), outlined key topics to be discussed at the conference, themed “Uncommon Challenges in a Rapidly Changing Legal Environment.”

The conference will focus on contemporary legal challenges, the impact of global trends on legal practice, and strategies for adapting to specialized legal services. Discussions will also cover legal technology, alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and access to justice initiatives.

Ogbole urged legal practitioners to embrace continuous learning, interdisciplinary collaboration, and a client-focused approach to navigate the complexities of modern legal practice. He also noted that the event would provide networking opportunities, mentorship programs, and professional development resources, particularly for young lawyers.
